I just wanted you to know I did a search for, “how long did Jesus get away” on my search engine and you popped up right away! As I was looking at your article I was like, “this is Substack!” So cool!! So you came up on the internet without me even being in Substack! New sub for sure! Thanks for your article!
Sure appreciate this, Ashley. Your book coming out looks AWESOME.
Impressed by all your husband and you are contributing to the world. Given how the Lord has helped you overcome so much, you'll appreciate this (https://www.publishpeace.net/p/12-common-patterns-in-those-finding-be5) - especially the fact that so many people who overcome depression for good have profound experiences with Christ. (We gathered stories anywhere we could - almost all these spiritual experiences are from nondenominational stories - Christians of various kinds).
I love your insights. I heard Chade-Meng Tan (mindfulness guru) say if the mind is like a flag flapping in a hurricane of emotion, mindfulness is like the flagpole. I thought, good point, but what is your flagpole grounded in?
Also, if even Jesus, God in the flesh, needed his solitude/prayer time to function down here, how much more do I need it?
I find God when I’m alone like this, and I feel His presence and I talk to Him . I find no better peace and joy. A peace that nothing or anyone else could give me .
The mindfulness that is being sold on the internet is from eastern mysticism, so it's important to counter it and caution people about it. Also, what you have highlighted, together with meditating on the word of God, when translated to mindfulness can easily confuse people, even though we know that it may mean one and the same thing. Lets just not stumble the little ones just to prove a point. My thought...
