“Tis not too late to seek a newer world.” -Tennyson
Do you have peace in your life, in your home - in your community?
Not so easy to find these days. In the New Testament, Jesus spoke to his disciples about a future day when hearts would be “failing” people “for fear.”
In modern revelation, Jesus elaborates, “fear shall come upon all people….and all things shall be in commotion.”
Whatever you happen to think of various claims of scriptural prophecy, you likely agree there’s abundant sources of agitation all around.
Why we write
This is why we write - the men and women who will share their ideas and insights on this platform in the years ahead. Because it doesn’t have to be this way.
Not forever. Not in our communities, our homes - and not in our hearts.
This same Jesus speaks of a peace we can find even amidst the storms around us - “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
That’s not just passing advice or theological abstraction. It’s encouragement from the One who has actually has power to bring it to pass! Whatever confusing mess you or I are facing, He’s not confused.
He is enough. And what he has is sufficient. That’s why we’re really not after followers ourselves. He must increase - and we must decrease.
So that we may arrive sooner than later at a day when true peace will come to the earth. The day that Habakkuk - channeling the prophet-poet Isaiah, witnesses that the earth shall be “filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”
Sometimes the truth - including the truth about how to find deeper peace, joy and exalting love - can be stretching, cutting, even agonizing. That’s why we expect some of our peace publishing to be seen as anything other than welcome and comforting.
Yet even so, this platform will be a place for people to say things that can’t be said elsewhere - another outlet for high-quality essays that need to get out there, but have no other place to go. The aim of everything here will be to bring the deepest and most lasting peace to hearts, homes and our communities as a whole.
