Sharing an advance copy of our new mental health book coming out next year
"Restoring Hope" will be formally released in fall 2026, the culmination of years working with Clay Olsen in reaching tens of thousands online facing depression, anxiety and addiction.
For years now, I’ve heard stories of people grappling with acute anxiety or heavy depression being told by someone, “this is something you’ll probably face the rest of your life.”
That professional or friend or family member surely didn’t realize how much hope they’re removing from that heavy-laden person or how at odds with scientific reality their grim prognosis is.
Let me say this very clearly: If the best science confirmed that depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, bipolar, etc., were usually life-long, chronic conditions, then we should be telling people that.
But it doesn’t! It really doesn’t.
Don’t believe me, though. You can find out for yourself by reading this book, which will be formally published next year - and which I want to gift you today as a reader and supporter of Publish Peace. You can download it here:
If you or someone you love is grappling with depression, anxiety or another mental health or behavioral problem, including addiction of some kind, Clay and I hope this will boost your spirits. It’s honestly been a joy for us to learn too!
In addition to reviewing the most hopeful, latest science on mental health recovery, we share preliminary results of our own analysis of success stories - people who got better from serious depression and pornography addiction and stayed better. What did they do? What patterns show up in studying their stories?
The early chapters make the case for why we believe a “paradigm shift” is needed in mental health. What would that look like, and what could it mean for you or someone you love?
Beyond the supportive research, you’ll hear many stories of people who have found that healing themselves. Then, the final chapters will give you concrete, practical suggestions to encourage anyone hoping to deepen their own healing.
The most thrilling truth is this: Tomorrow doesn’t have to be the same as today.
Don’t let anyone predict your recovery. Leave it open. Miracles are possible - including for you.

This book looks amazing! I would buy it for the last four chapters alone. Thank you for carrying a more optimistic and realistic perspective of coping with depression and anxiety - a much needed breath of fresh air to the mental health field.
The truth that no one wants to hear or explore anymore is at once simpler and more complicated than all that. Our modern attention spans are so short that we have already forgotten that there was a time when Americans thought about and debated the questions "What is mental health?" and "What is mental illness?" The true answer to those questions so contradicts commonly accepted opinion that most people would rather not hear it. But for those with ears to hear, this is the truth: https://psychiatricsurvivors.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/the-truth-about-psychiatry/ I've also produced videos on the same topics: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFaJ_qOIxtxn0DwMNe3hPQ0PHo6CuHABL The truth does not flatter either the unwitting victims of psychiatry (those who suffer from "mental illness," etc.) or the sometimes unwitting perpetrators (psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health workers, counselors, etc.)
