Jacob, I'm tracing back our family roots and it has taken me to the Richard and Mary vessel I believe you sited in this story that brought your Johann Friederich Hess to the new world. Sept 15th 1753. However our story sites a John Frederick Hess living in Lynn Township. Where did your draw the distinction that your ancestor was the one that ended up in Derry, Lancaster and not Northampton/Lynn Township and eventually became a noted gunmaker in and around the Lehigh valley ?
We don’t have concrete evidence that our Frederick Hess came to America on the Richard and Mary. At one point in our research, we hoped this was the case. We do know that our Frederick Hess lived and died in Derry Township with his wife, Rachel. Most of their children eventually moved to Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
We do not know Frederick’s parents or where Frederick was born. Family Search assumes his father is Hans Hess, but Frederick is not listed as a child in Hans’ Will or in the will of Hans’ wife.
And thank you so much btw !

What a great question, let me see if I can get back to you
From my Aunt Ann, David:

Dude, how lucky are these people to have their story told by you. Kudos on an excellent history.
